# Study V2

Configure Study V2, collect or upload participant photos, analyze results, and export study data.

Study V2 brings study setup, participant management, image processing and results into one workspace. This section covers the current Study V2 interface. The separate [Studies](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/studies.md) section describes the earlier study interface.

Screenshots use example studies and sample data. Names, dates and values show how the controls work. Use your own study's settings and results.

Start with [Study Terminology](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/terminology.md) to understand the study's main parts. If you used the earlier interface, see [Moving from Studies to Study V2](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/study-v1-vs-v2.md).

## Choose a collection mode

Choose the mode when creating the study. It cannot be changed afterwards.

| Mode              | How photos arrive                                                  | Setup                                                                     |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Remote collection | Participants use the study app to complete photo and survey tasks. | General, Schedule, Tasks, Communication and Participants. |
| Dataset upload | A coordinator imports existing photos. | General and Uploads; participants and stages are created from the import. |

Both modes include Image Processing, Results and access to the collected dataset. Participants can answer surveys in remote studies.

## Set up a study

1. [Get started](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/getting-started.md) and [create a study](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/studies-list.md).
2. Fill in [General](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/general.md).
3. For remote collection, configure [Schedule](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/schedule.md), [Tasks](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/tasks.md), [Communication](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/communication.md) and [Participants](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/participants.md), then [test and launch](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/lifecycle.md).
4. For an existing photo archive, follow the [Uploads](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/uploads.md) wizard.
5. Monitor [Overview](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/overview.md), run [Image Processing](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/image-processing.md) and inspect [Results](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/results.md).
6. Explore [Datasets](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/datasets.md), [Dataset Overview](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/dataset-overview.md) and [Participants and Photos](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/dataset-viewer.md), then [export data](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/exports.md).

If enabled for your company, you can also configure [Split-face studies](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/split-face.md).

For remote collection, read [Participant App](/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2/participant-app.md) before sharing sign-in details. It explains sign-in, first-time setup, tasks, reminders and help.

{% hint style="info" %}
Available controls depend on the collection mode, study state and company settings. A control described for a remote study may be absent from an upload study.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.saas.haut.ai/haut.ai/haut.ai-features/study-v2.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
